Mayor Cataquiz Postponed Oathtaking of a group claiming they were elected PSHAI Directors.

Mayor Cataquiz of San Pedro Laguna postponed the oathtaking yesterday 27 October 2008 of a group claiming they were elected Directors of PSHAI in an " elections held last 18 October 2008 at PUP Bldg".

In an effort to force the issue, the " group" made a request for an oathtaking to be made by the mayor. The incumbent Directors, however, vehemently contested the oathtaking and informed the mayor of the events that transpired prior to what should had been an election of PSHAI Board of Directors. The events were as follows:

1.) The resignation of the two (2) members of the Committee on Elections.
The two (2) members apparently, disagreed on the action of the chairperson to disqualify as candidates the incumbent Directors. Harassment via phone calls were made by some members of the " group", thereby resulted in the resignation of the two (2) Comelec members;
2.) The COMELEC chairperson named two (2) replacement members.
The chairperson action was illegal and therefore not valid and binding among members.
In the By Laws only the President and the Board of Directors are can select a member of the Committee on Elections;

3.) The " illegally formed committee on elections " disqualified the members of the incumbent Board of Directors to run as candidates. The provisions of a By Laws cited as reasons for the disqualification did not exists on PSHAI ByLaws;

These reasons prompted the incumbent BOD to postpone the 18 October 2008 scheduled event; and to give time to sort out the legal procedures necessary, the BOD re-schedule the election on 29 November 2008.

In compliance with HLURB's rules regarding such postponement of elections, the incumbent members of Board submitted relevant documents with explanations on the reasons for the rescheduling of PSHAI -BOD elections. The BOD awaits HLURB's ruling on these documents.

Mayor Cataquiz did not pushed through the oathtaking . Instead in an effort to reconciliation, the mayor formed an interim group of nine (9) members, with four (4) members each coming from opposing party. Atty Alviar of the Office of the Mayor will be the OIC. The Office of the Mayor also promised to follow up HLURB's decision.
